Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurological and developmental disorder impacting 1 in 36 children in the US. Physical activity levels among individuals with ASD are low, putting them at an increased risk for health-related issues and poor quality of life. Growing research reveals that physical activity provides immense benefits, including physical, cognitive, social, and behavioral. Unfortunately, a consensus on exercise or physical activity is not well understood among schools, the fitness industry, researchers, or the ASD community. The purpose of this webinar is to inform the fitness industry, academia, and medical community about the benefits of exercise and physical activity as well as the opportunities for research and practical applications in the autism community.
