Exercise Prescription & Programming

Virtual Exercise
Author Last Post

Hi Jessica, I have used WEBEX as well- https://www.webexercises.com/ in conjunction with Zoom. In terms of payment, there are a few out there, and the one i am familiar with is Mindbody. I have heard about https://www.vagaro.com/pro but not used it. Hope that helps!

I work at the VA and we run virtual classes to a large area. The program we use is WEBEX. It works in tandem with Teams and Outlook nicely and creates an attendance list for patient tracking after the class is done.

I don't think I can help much for tracking patients given the population I work with not using commercial insurance.

Hope this helped.

Good for you!

During Covid, I created a virtual cardiopulmonary program. Phase 2 was reimburesed at that time.

As people started to venture out and Medicare droped reimburesment, the program didn't attract participants and we ended it.

It's great to have physician involvement. That's where your referrals can come from.

We used Zoom.

Participants signed all the usual documents that were required for phase 2 rehab (consent, insurance, HIPPA, etc.). We urged particpants to come into the hospital for the first visit to meet with RN, get baseline readings, 6-min walk test for pulmonary patients, BP, etc. If participants were unwilling, we used judgement.

Integral to how we worked the program, at least at first, was the ChanlHealth platform.

Eventually, we were able to digitize our own educational documents and we would email them to patients.

A for tracking payments, our program enrolled 6 or so patients at any one time. There just wasn't a huge demand. So bookkeeping was not cumbersome. Our admin assistant handled it beautifully.

If Medicare ever offers reimbursement again, we may resurrect this virtual program. Maybe not. Eventhough our hospital's marketing department was somewhat helpful, and my manager actively promoted it with doctors, there was not a lot of interest.

My advice would be to think about your target customer. Who is that one person who you want to enroll in your program. What does he or she need to be successful?

-Start with necessary documentation. These are just suggestions-physician clearance, HIPPA, H&P, payment agreement.

-WHo will run the sessions? What is your session look like? How long will it be? How long is earm up, resistance exercise, cardio, education?

-Teach people how to use the technology. I was suprised how many need that information.

Good luck. It's a service that most people either don't know is out there or they don't know that they need it.

(Sorry for typos. Just writing off the top of my head :)

I am working here locally with a physician to start a virtual exercise program, with the primary focus being those with medical conditions. Can anyone provide advice / support on how to get this up and running? What platforms work best for offering virtual group classes? What platforms work best for tracking payments and running a facility? Thank You.
